My next step was splitting the performance that I imagined into sections for me to begin tackling and creating content around.
These were still very much primary concepts and I was very aware that many of the elements would be changed and thrown to the side, however this is the process that I best value in terms of having a sturdy plan of producing material and generating ideas.
(1) Verbatim
Ideas -
- Interview people close to me who's opinion I value
- Ask people to say what they think of when I ask them to think about me
- Ask them what roles they think of me playing / what I suit
- Ask them what celebrity figures I remind them of
- Ask them what they think my attitudes towards men are
- Ask them if they think I'm funny
(see below for snippets of my first round of interviewing asking similar questions to these)
(2) Stand up
Stand-up section ideas:
- Going through the conventions of stereotypical content from a female comedian, including:
Talking about weight/food
Impressions *
Sung section (on ukulele?)
Talking about sex
Hating men / talking about how useless men are
*For the impressions section, I considered the following celebrities:
Gemma Collins
Miranda
Cher
Katie Price
Nadine Coyle
Pam (Gavin and Stacey)
Nessa (Gavin and Stacey)
Holly Willoughby
Stacey Soloman
Lorraine Kelly
Adele (singing and speaking)

(3) Comparison section:
Showing what the 'ideal spectator' wants to hear about in comedy vs what's actually funny
Male orientated comedy vs sole-female content
Comedy for a male audience vs for a female audience
'Devil's advocate' section delivered by women reading material written by men scrutinising the opposite gender
(4) Overhead audio section:
Audio montage talking about female comedy writing and the difficulty of women finding their position in the comedy industry
Response to male oppression expressed through comedy material
Real life interview quotes from famous comedians
