The focus of this weeks workshop was getting a firm grip on the intricacies and pillars of our research project. One way that we did this was by collaborating with other artists in the group and asking them to give an 'expert talk' on topics that we presented to them and that we feel are key drivers of our performance.
I presented the notions of -
The power of the female
Women in comedy
Here is some notes I took down from the expert feedback given by others -

We then presented our three-minute performances to a wider group, and followed this by speaking freely about our project and providing context. I extended my previous performances and combined the pieces with a clip of an audio montage that I collated through sound-biting sections of interviews with female comedians and male comedians talking about the role of gender in comedy. The context I gave around my project is as follows:
"My research project is about everything you just heard. It is a rebellion against the ‘modes’ and pre-established roles of women in comedy, and will be led by a desire to reclaim the female voice in an area of the entertainment industry that has been dominated by men for as long as it has existed. It will also delve into the dangers of extreme self-deprecation seen regularly in female-led comedy and its material."
